Oran is Algeria’s second city and, with the adjacent Mers el-Kébir, one of the country’s largest ports — a Mediterranean commercial and industrial hub in the west. About forty kilometres east, at Arzew and Bethioua, sits one of Algeria’s great hydrocarbon complexes: Sonatrach’s LNG liquefaction and petrochemical trains, alongside the Tosyali steel plant — a heavy-industry belt that Oran serves as its urban and logistics base.

That western economy runs on demanding physical assets: containers and cargo through the port, plant, valves and spares across the energy and petrochemical sites, hot metal and tooling across the steelworks, and stock across factories and distribution. Manual methods cannot keep pace in these environments.
