Garoua is the capital of Cameroon’s North Region and the country’s third-most-populous city — a cotton and textile centre where the national cotton company runs ginning and processing, alongside leather and hides, groundnuts, and a seasonal river port on the Bénoué that moves goods when water levels allow.
