Adama, in the Oromia Region about a hundred kilometres southeast of Addis Ababa, sits on Ethiopia’s busiest trade corridor — the Addis–Adama Expressway, the country’s first, and the electrified Addis–Djibouti railway both run through it. Just up the corridor toward Addis, the Modjo dry port is Ethiopia’s principal inland gateway for Djibouti-bound container trade; the Adama Industrial Park runs textile and light manufacturing; one of Ethiopia’s largest wind farms stands nearby; and Adama Science and Technology University anchors the city’s research base.
That corridor economy runs on physical goods: containers moving between the dry port, railway and expressway, rolls, WIP and materials through the industrial park, produce and inputs through agribusiness and markets, and stock across distribution warehouses. Manual methods cannot keep pace on a logistics corridor.
