Al Khor is the northern city that houses and services Ras Laffan Industrial City — Qatar’s principal LNG and gas-to-liquids hub, some 80 km north of Doha, with its huge artificial harbour and LNG export terminal. The city itself adds a light-industrial area between Al Khor and Al Thakhira, the Al Khor Community that houses energy-sector staff, and a long fishing and pearling heritage.
That energy support economy runs on high-value, hard-to-track assets: plant, valves, instruments and spares across the industrial city, tool cribs and consumables across maintenance and contractor yards, and warehouse stock feeding the plants — all of which must be located, counted and accounted for.
